Recipe for administration "Tylan" to litters
AS ALWAYS check with your vet before administration of this antibiotic to your puppies.

• 1/2 cup H2O mixed with 1 tsp. Tylan Soluble Powder.
• Store in fridge while powder dissolves and in-between feedings
• total weight of all of the puppies divided by 4
• give this amount for the whole litter 2x per day
• If you need the dosage for each individual puppy, divided the amount for the whole litter by the number of puppies and give 2x per day.

example:

• 10 pups at 5 pounds per puppy 10 x 5=50 pounds of puppies
• 50 divided by 4 = 12.5 cc
• Give 12.5 cc for ALL the puppies (not per puppy)2x per day.
• If you need the dosage for each individual puppy, divide the 12.5 cc by the number of puppies. In this case 12.5 cc divided by 10 = 1.25 cc per puppy 2x per day.

I use this for diarrhea in puppies caused by coccidia that doesn't respond to Albon. I put it in their morning and evening meal. It has a very bitter taste so you might need to add some canned food if they are reluctant to eat it. My puppies never seemed to mind. If your puppies are not eating puppy food yet, you can mix the dosage with yogurt or Gerber Beef and Gravy baby food and give it with a syringe. When you mix tylan powder with water it won't mix right away. Store the mixture in the fridge and wait for the powder to be totally absorbed before using it. I start my puppies routinely at 3 weeks. I also take a stool sample in at this time to check for other parasites. AS ALWAYS check with your vet before administration of this antibiotic to your puppies.
